Hanging light fixtures on Mirrors Most light fixtures can be hung on a mirror, but for best results, it is better to choose only "bar" type light fixtures for this purpose. This is an example of one of the many types of bar light fixtures. A hole must be drilled in the mirror in order to mount any kind of light fixture.

Back Plate Most bar type light fixtures have a metal "can" that is behind the decorative base of the fixture. This flat can attaches with glazing tape and glue to the mirror and provides a sturdy, long lasting bond. Any light fixture that does NOT have a flat "can" should be AVOIDED. If a fixture attaches with bolts and does NOT have a flat "can", it is impossible to make a sturdy application. The fixture will slip around and feel loose. If you overtighten the bolts, the mirror will crack. |
